Imagine enjoying the day out on the water in a recreational boat when the person driving the boat is hurt or unable to continue at the helm. Would you know what to do in an emergency?
This class will provide information and hands-on practice about what to do if the boat operator becomes ill, injured, falls overboard, has a medical emergency or is otherwise incapacitated.
We will share information on planning and carrying out a safe boating trip, communication with your boating partner during the trip, radio communication to receive help and other important knowledge to assist you in responding to different kinds of emergencies.
We will meet at the Port of Ilwaco upstairs meeting room. As part of the class we will walk to a boat docked at the Port for additional hands-on practice using different emergency situations.
Offered by Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 62. $5 fee includes classroom materials. Seating is limited.
