Always held the first Saturday in December, Ilwaco's Crab Pot Christmas includes crabby Christmas caroling, a holiday reading of 'A Coastal Christmas" by Lynette McAdams and ends with the "World's shortest firework display". This year's event will also pay tribute to our local crabbing fleet.
The Crab Pot Christmas tree, made from actual crab pots and adorned with buoys, is a site to see. There are also "crab pot snow people. The tree lighting is at 5 pm sharp and followed by festivities along the businesses at the Port of Ilwaco. Time Enough Books hosts Santa Claus with free - take them yourself photos. Don Nisbett Art Gallery has a tradition of homeade hot chocolate and cookies along with some help from Santa'shelpers. Other businesses offer hoiday treats as well. Programs are given the day of the event that will list additional participant information.
Dress warm and wear your rubber boots, because this annual holiday tradition comes, rain, storm or shine!
